Other Support for a Research Project

As described in section 223 of the FY 2021 National Defense Authorization Act, federal agencies are required to request, as part of any application for a R&D application award, that all covered individuals/key personnel:

  • Disclose the amount, type, and source of all current and pending research support received by, or expected to be received by, the individual as of the time of the disclosure;

  • Certify that the disclosure is current, accurate, and complete; and

  • Agree to update such disclosure at the request of the agency prior to the award of support and at any subsequent time the agency determines appropriate during the term of the award.

Federal agencies are also required to require entities applying for such awards to certify that each covered individual/key personnel who is employed by the entity and listed on the application has been made aware of the above requirements.

Federal agencies regularly update their guidance for the community on current and pending other support and make it available in their application guidance.

Federal agencies closely review Current and Pending Other Support to ensure that no time commitment or budgetary overlap exists, and that there is no scientific duplication.
